Sinister says, “Whip your cockney out!”

Brooklyn, New York- July 25thth ,2021-  Benedict Sinister is a genre-fluid iconoclast, an enigma about to stun and amaze listeners with his refreshing and stirring new single, “Just like Russell Brand” – a track unlike anything in the dance or pop charts, including his last single “Going Away” which recently reached No. 8 on the UK Club Chart.

”Just Like Russell Brand” uses an awesome new lingo “EDM Mockney,” a rhyming slang based on the names of DJs.

“Pete” (Pete Tong) – wrong

“Deadmau5” – house

“Carl” (Carl Cox) – rocks

“Marshmello” – yellow

“Avicii” – lychee

“Tiesto” – pesto

“Timmy” (Timmy Trumpet) – crumpet

“DJ Snake” – cake

“David” David Guetta – better

“Calvin” (Calvin Harris) – Paris

“Steve” (Steve Aoki) – karaoke

“Afrojack” – sack

“Skrillex” – sex

“Laidback” (Laidback Luke) – puke

“Armin” (Armin van Buren) – urine

“Martin” (Martin Garrix) – barracks

“Dimitry” (Dimitry Vegas) – anus

“Kshmr” – pap smear

“Diplo” – Cipro

“Hardwell” – bell

Why “Mockney”? Sinister explains: “Mockney means fake cockney, like the accent I use in the song, which also namechecks the fakest cockney accents in film history. I was most inspired though by British mockney icons such as  Mick Jagger, Crass, Jamie Oliver, Guy Ritchie, and of course Russell Brand himself. Love you lads!”

The contemporary and diverse sound of “Just like Russell Brand” is ironically assembled from references to classic British dance artists KLF, The Prodigy, Shamen, and others, combined with nods to Swedish House Mafia, Ricky Gervais, Frank Zappa and Lerner and Lowe.
