DJ/Producer Aruhtra with quite an impressive performance CV coming up right here, with a sweet song called ‘Imagine’ which has Summer Smash written all over it.
The song is a cover of Shola Ama’s 1999 smash hit Imagine. Yes, the one with the infamous Club Asylum remix that decimated dancefloors across the UK to become one of the Iconic tracks of the entire genre. It can often be almost impossible to re-create such a well-known song as this, but I honestly feel that Aruhtra has really re-packaged this well for the modern commercial market. The vibe is positive, uplifting and the mix sounds bright, definitely gives the impression that the producer has really studied the genre and has his ear to the clubs, because you can visualise the crowd response during all the changes of the song.
The key for me with this track is the invaluable element of a cast-iron hook with a nice simple melody, backed up by old school piano-chord stabs. It’s a real hands-in-the-air track, as you can hear plain as day. In his own words to say it’s “fun, happy and energetic”, is an understatement. Credit needs to be given also to the vocalist who is the lead singer of Belgian DJ/Producer Lost Frequencies’ live outfit and has just finished supporting him on a sold-out American tour. Finally, the talents of producer RICK LIVE who’s currently at #1 with his mix of the classic Sweet Like Chocolate are in full affect. He’s provided a remix of this track, which is an added bonus!
UK born but also performing across Europe, Asia & the Middle East, Aruhtra’s current CV includes a residency at Nikki Beach, Marbella and La Suite Club in Puente Romano – private parties djing on the Matsu Super Yacht and on top of all that! a weekly House and Garage radio show, every Saturday 8-10pm, also in Marbella.
During a career that goes back as far as 1999 when he won a DJ competition, and thus, a residency at the infamous GARAGE NATION and as a guest DJ on Dreem Teem BBC Radio 1 Presents show; ARUHTRA has worked alongside the likes of Martin Solveig, Roger Sanchez, Solomon, Nic Fanciulli, Copyright, The Shapeshifters, Sonny Fodera, Chocolate Puma, Sam Divine, Sandy Rivera, Joey Negro, Mark Knight, Jeremy Healy, Seb Fontaine, Grant Nelson, DJ EZ, Matt Jam Lamont, Karl “Tuff Enuff” Brown, The Dreem Teem, The So Solid Crew as well as many more prominent artists.
Also look out for a collaboration coming up with Sandy Rivera of (kings of tomorrow) this summer and some remix work for some heavy hitters (Watch This Space).
Check this out and see if you agree with me about the commercial appeal of this one! Off the chain! Well done lad.
